About the role
Under the direction of the Supervisor I, the Analyst II serves as a Return to Work Coordinator (RTWC) in the Medical Management Unit (MMU) and the backup for the Health and Wellness (H&W) Coordinator for the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR).
Responsibilities
- Interpret and advise management on laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and MOU provisions relating to workers’ compensation and reasonable accommodation.
- Provide consultation to staff and serve as a liaison between the Department, employees, State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF) adjusters, doctors, and attorneys.
- Facilitate complex litigated workers’ compensation and reasonable accommodation cases.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training related to workers’ compensation and reasonable accommodation requests.
- Compile and analyze accident and injury statistics.
- Review settlement stipulations with the Office of the Director Legal Unit (ODL).
- Provide settlement recommendations to the Office of the Director Legal Unit and SCIF.
- Occasional travel to visit various DIR offices.
Requirements

Qualifications
Detailed, specific experience and/or education with the following:
- Workers’ Compensation, Reasonable Accommodation, and Return to Work.
- Interpreting laws, policies, procedures, or regulations.
A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required and must be attached to the application. The SOQ must:
- Be no more than two pages in length.
- Use 1" margins and 12-point Arial font.
- Be titled "Statement of Qualification."
- List questions in numerical format with answers following:
- Describe your experience and/or education with Workers’ Compensation, Reasonable Accommodation, and Return to Work, and how this experience has prepared or qualified you for this role.
- Describe your experience and/or education with interpreting laws, policies, procedures, or regulations.
Working Conditions
- Located at 1416 9th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814 in the renovated New Labor Agency Building in Downtown Sacramento.
- Office setting with a cubicle environment, artificial light, and temperature control.
- Extensive computer use for email communication, research, and other purposes.
- Prolonged periods in a stationary position.
