About the role
The Intermediate Benefits Processor job class serves as part of TRA’s Member Benefits Department. These positions are responsible for analyzing, auditing, and performing a variety of calculations, both routine and complex. They also provide explanations of available benefits and options to educators in covered Minnesota public schools, primarily through phone, in-person, and written communications.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, audit, and perform calculations on various benefit programs.
- Train and explain financial concepts to educators and other stakeholders.
- Manage competing priorities and plan effectively.
- Interpret and apply laws and policies to work assignments.
- Diagnose problems and recommend solutions for process improvement.
- Communicate with educators via phone, in-person, and written methods.
- Secure transportation for in-state business travel.
Requirements
- Two (2) years of experience providing customer service related to employee and/or government benefits administration, accounting, payroll, finance, or insurance.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Math, Public Administration, or a closely related field can substitute for one (1) year of experience.
- Experience performing calculations.
- Ability to train and explain financial concepts to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to plan, organize, and successfully manage competing priorities.
- Ability to interpret and apply laws and policies to work assignments.
- Ability to diagnose problems and recommend solutions for process improvement purposes.
- Strong interpersonal, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Cisco WebEx, and/or equivalent software packages.
- Ability to secure one’s own transportation for in-state business travel.
Qualifications

Pay
$26.12 - $37.91 per hour; $54,538 - $79,156 annually.
Schedule
This position follows a designated hybrid work schedule based on business need and performance. Typically, full-time, non-exempt employees work a 40-hour workweek. Incumbents must work a full-time in-person schedule for at least the first six (6) months to complete mandatory training.
