Retail Team Leader

In partnership with store leadership, work alongside store associates providing daily direction, communication, and training to execute daily action plans in accordance with Vera Bradley’s objectives and standards. As a Team Leader (also referred to as a Key Holder), you will be responsible for opening and closing the store, leading the team to reach sales goals, and providing an amazing shopping experience.

Responsibilities

  • Set high standards and motivate the team to create an exceptional shopping experience.
  • Exceed sales goals, build store traffic, convert guests, and promote campaigns and contests to drive brand awareness and lasting customer relationships.
  • Act as a Brand Ambassador by consistently modeling and upholding Vera Bradley Core Values.
  • Assist the leadership team with planning, implementing, and maintaining visual merchandising brand standards.
  • Support store operational duties including inventory, ordering, training, Fussy Matrix, guest communications (emailing and calling), and opening/closing procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between store associates and store leadership to foster a fun and collaborative work environment.
  • Maintain awareness of loss prevention by promoting a culture of honesty and connecting store associate engagement with shrink reduction.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent (strongly preferred).
  • Prior retail experience (strongly preferred); prior management experience (strongly preferred).
  • Experience in specialty retail (strongly preferred).
  • Experience with retail POS systems (a plus).
  • Dependable with open availability and flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong desire and ability to serve customers and solve problems.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and promote a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Polished, polite, and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to build and maintain good rapport with internal and external customers and handle situations with confidence, tact, and resourcefulness.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Constant walking and standing; frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Ability to work with strong fragrances and scents (e.g., eau de toilette, candles, bath and shower gel, body lotion, hand cream, and bar soap) throughout the workday.
  • Strong sensory skills, including good eyesight, hearing, and dexterity.
  • Ability to consistently lift 10–35 lbs; occasionally lift up to 55 lbs with the ability to push or pull more than 55 lbs.

Pay

Base pay range: $13.51 – $20.24 per hour. Starting pay: $17.00 per hour. Vera Bradley’s compensation ranges are based on market data and comply with all local, state, and federal regulations. Individual pay within the listed range depends on work location.
