Job Summary

Retail Team Lead (RTL) for the Donated Goods Program (DGP) at Goodwill Houston. This position supports the store and donation area operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective management under the supervision of the Store Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all day-to-day store operations in the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager.
  • Maintain open availability to assist the store with management and leadership needs.
  • Help manage the Safety Program and communicate clear company goals to the team.
  • Accurately complete sales transactions and maintain proper cash accountabilities.
  • Aid in the training and development of associates.
  • Ensure proper handling and processing of incoming donation flow.
  • Operate store systems and ensure financial and statistical counts are completed.
  • Support the timely rotation of apparel and hard goods according to Goodwill Houston policies.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.

  • Must perform all duties according to Goodwill Houston safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping standards, and ensure all walkways are clear and free of clutter.
  • Must comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Management experience is preferred.
  • At least one (1) year of retail sales experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Good computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Office).
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with a variety of personality types.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holidays, evenings, overnight, and weekend shifts.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for current or future employment.

  • Donor Value (Assigned District vs budget)
  • Donors Integrity and Growth (Assigned District vs budget)
  • Budget Sales vs Actual Sales (Assigned District vs budget)
  • Payroll as a Percent of Revenue (Assigned District vs goal)
  • Budgeted Profit vs Actual Profit (Assigned District vs goal)
  • Retention Rate (Measured by annual leadership retention vs LY, 30-New Hire day vs goal, and Annual Retention Rate vs LY)
  • Customer Service (Feedback from team, secret shopper, and donor ratings for assigned district)
  • Change Round up as a % of Transactions (>30% and higher than the previous year)
  • Active with Zero hours TMs vs Goal (Zero (0) – 28+ days) (Assigned District)
  • Administration - Performance management/Training (Assigned District at
  • Reporting Team Meeting Minutes, Safety, Over/Short (Assigned District)

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Regular twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and, occasionally, lift/move items up to 100 lbs. (e.g., large bags of donations, televisions, furniture, etc.)
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Moderate indoor noise with periodic exposure to outside temperatures.
