Retail Supervisor

About the role

The Retail Supervisor assists the management team in the daily operations of the store. They supervise and lead retail associates within the store location, ensuring excellent customer service and resolving workplace problems.

Responsibilities

• Assign, guide, coach and train employees while performing the work of a Sales Associate as needed.
• Schedule and assign one or more employees, set expectations, instruct, coach and identify training needs.
• Maintain orderly operations of the store in the absence of the Manager and Assistant.
• Resolve workplace problems by addressing issues that impact employee performance and productivity.
• Ensure excellent customer service is provided to customers and donors.
• Prepare reports by collecting, documenting and summarizing information.
• Complete projects by planning, organizing and monitoring assignments.
• Promote productivity by following up with employees on work results.
• Provide excellent internal/external customer service.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Demonstrate safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; report any potential hazards or accidents.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalency.
• 2 years’ experience with retail with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
• 2 years’ customer service/retail experience.
• 1 year supervisor experience preferred.

Skills

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).

Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job.

Physical Abilities

• Lift and carry 30-40 pounds.
• Developed fine motor control (grasp, handle, manipulate objects with fingers).
• Standing for long periods, frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing.
• Climb ladders.
• Able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain).
• Operate computer systems.
• Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills.
• Maintain reliable attendance.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Goodwill’s policies and applicable laws.
• Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign and direct work; monitor performance; reward and discipline employees; and address complaints and resolve problems.
• Partner with People Relations as needed and appropriate.
