About the role

Opportunity knocks at the Lakeshore Learning Store. You don’t need a background in education, but a desire to learn is essential! As one of our store managers, you will develop a first‑class team, implement plans to maximize store sales, and provide our customers with an unforgettable retail experience—all in a fast‑paced, fast‑changing environment that demands operational expertise. Providing great customer service isn’t just a goal—it’s the essence of who we are.

Responsibilities

• Source, recruit, hire and support onboarding of an engaged, sales‑driven team; ensure efficiency during the training process.
• Provide ongoing coaching, development and growth opportunities for existing staff and build career paths.
• Conduct annual personnel performance appraisals with clear, actionable feedback.
• Develop business strategies to expand the customer base, increase store traffic and optimize profitability.
• Manage employee relations and drive workplace engagement and motivation.
• Oversee retail store outreach programs and initiatives, engaging with sales partners and the local community to raise awareness and support Lakeshore’s goals.
• Drive Lakeshore’s customer service standards (SERVE) through consistent measurement of store performance and customer feedback.
• Seek and communicate customer feedback regarding school and home use of products.
• Handle complex customer service issues and escalations.
• Efficiently maximize store sales and profitability while managing controllable expenses.
• Undertake financial‑planning tasks, including managing the store budget (P&L) and preparing detailed reports on buying trends, customer needs and profit margins for leadership.
• Optimize store layout and product placement for maximum sales.
• Ensure compliance with retail policies, procedures, store cleanliness and safety standards.
• Oversee development and approval of employee scheduling to ensure optimal staffing.

Requirements

• 3–5 years retail management experience.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
• Knowledge of retail POS systems.
• Preferred experience with customer outreach and driving loyalty through brand‑awareness initiatives.
