We are seeking a Retail Store Management Trainee with a minimum of six months of store management experience to fast-track into a Store Management position. This role is ideal for external retail assistant managers and store managers looking to advance their careers.

Pay

$18.50 to $24.81 per hour, plus commission based on productivity and a bonus based on store performance. Retail sales associates can earn up to 8% on transactions, averaging an additional $9.58 per hour on top of the hourly rate.

Schedule

  • Most stores open at 9 AM and close at 6 PM; many stores are closed on Sundays.
  • Flexible retail schedule based on business needs, including weekends and holidays.
  • 45+ hours per week; hours are based on business needs and not guaranteed.

About the Role

A Store Manager Trainee is accountable for the day-to-day operations of the store, partnering with the Store Manager to lead and develop employees, recruit top talent, maximize financial goals, and manage customer relations. This role sets the tone for a customer-centric environment and analyzes store financial statements to ensure goals are met. Trainees work with a wide variety of merchandise, including jewelry, tools, electronics, and firearms (in FFL locations).

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate a customer-centric environment by engaging customers professionally and addressing issues rapidly.
  • Monitor and assist in training Pawnbrokers to meet FirstCash standards.
  • Recruit top talent through company-prescribed channels.
  • Open and close the store, including counting cash drawers, securing merchandise, and following asset protection procedures.
  • Ensure asset protection through inventory control, safety procedures, documentation, and securing customer loans.
  • Administer store processes, including inventory, loan management, merchandising, store presentation, and enterprise-level reporting.
  • Evaluate financial statements and drive profitability through communication and goal-setting.
  • Ensure operating standards meet or exceed FirstCash standards.
  • Monitor loan qualification and buying processes to maintain value and integrity.
  • Complete assigned tasks and training for self-development.
  • Communicate store mission and profit objectives clearly to employees.
  • Maintain up-to-date product knowledge.
  • Act as manager on duty in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of six months of store management experience.
  • Willing and able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and perform duties for extended periods, including standing, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise others effectively.
  • Ability to work with firearms and become firearms certified.
  • Willingness to assist customers outside the building (e.g., parking lots) or retrieve products from exterior storage.
  • Minimum age: 18 years old.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work in multiple locations as business needs dictate.
  • Computer literate, with ability to operate POS systems and common office machines.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Cash handling experience required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent work ethic and strong business sense.
