About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the overall operations of the retail location.
  • Increase sales volume, uphold customer service values, develop and maintain customer and school relationships.
  • Maintain proper stock levels, inventory replenishment orders, special orders, and factory direct drop shipping orders.
  • Assist the Store General Manager with the House Account Program, including processing orders, contacting customers, and maintaining relationships.
  • Provide customer service at the Custom Services desk, including appointments, consultations, order-taking, and delivery of completed orders.
  • Assist the local or remote Custom Services production team by analyzing/maintaining the Work in Progress report, ordering framing supplies, and communicating with the production facility.
  • Oversee all aspects of inventory, including Vendor Direct and Special Orders, Min/Max changes, inventory adjustments, weekly cycle counts, store transfers, RTVs, and shipment processing.
  • Maintain company POGs, display and signage compliance, cleanliness standards, and supply orders.
  • Coordinate pre-inventory tasks, including store mapping, section labeling, pre-count assignments, product bundling, and staff assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with Loss Prevention, Safety measures, company policies, and operational controls.
  • Supervise shifts, including opening/closing the store, managing payroll, creating schedules, and assigning staff tasks.
  • Interview candidates for open non-exempt associate positions.
  • Resolve associate issues in partnership with management.
  • Train store associates on Blick Onboarding, Sales Training, promotional events, featured products, and Custom Services.
  • Communicate and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals for all associates.
  • Coordinate marketing programs at the store level and ensure compliance with national programs.
  • Manage the store’s financial well-being using the annual budget and monthly Profit & Loss reports.
  • Oversee ordering of store supplies and monitor expenses.

Requirements

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willing and able to relocate for future opportunities if required.

Schedule

  • Willing and able to work a minimum of two nights per work week.
  • Must close Friday and Saturday a minimum of one weekend per accounting period.
  • Must work a minimum of one Sunday per accounting period.
  • Availability to work flexible schedules, including day/evening shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with the attendance policy.
  • Scheduled an average of 36–40 hours per week based on availability and business needs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (College preferred but not required).
  • One year of previous retail management experience or one year of employment with Blick.
  • Demonstrated superior sales performance throughout career.
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds using appropriate lifting techniques and following safety rules.
  • Prolonged walking, standing, and climbing ladders.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Pay

$19–$22 per hour + Sales Incentives.
