Retail Shortage Control - Part Time

About the role

As a Shortage Control Associate (SCA), you’ll help create a secure and welcoming shopping environment. Your presence at store entrances, exits, and high-risk areas will reduce theft and enhance the overall customer experience. You’ll engage with customers and associates in line with our core values, providing friendly, confident greetings and maintaining a strong command presence to deter dishonest activity.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional appearance, wearing designated dress standards, radio, and earpiece
• Stand vigilantly at the front of the store, monitoring surroundings and greeting every customer with a warm smile and loud, friendly greeting
• Promote a sense of security and control to reduce opportunities for theft, shoplifting, and other dishonest activities
• Master knowledge of top shortage areas and support theft-reduction programs
• Communicate theft-prevention information during store rallies and collaborate with the Manager on Duty
• Conduct bag and package checks on store and corporate associates to ensure adherence to safety and security standards
• Train associates on shortage-reduction programs and processes
• Role-model safety as a top priority and address unsafe practices promptly
• Identify and report theft incidents or suspicious individuals to the Manager on Duty

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, or Operations (preferred)
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while visually monitoring the store environment
• Strong discipline, awareness, and commitment to maintaining safety and security standards
• Confidentiality is required
• Ability to review, analyze, and comprehend business trends
• Positive demeanor, strong posture, and energetic greeting style
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with disciplined decision-making
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to foster productive relationships
• Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
