About the role
As a Shortage Control Associate (SCA), you will help create a secure shopping environment while delivering exceptional customer service. Your presence at store entrances, exits, and high-risk areas will mitigate theft and foster a safe, enjoyable experience for customers and associates. You’ll engage with customers and team members in a manner consistent with our company’s core values, providing confident, friendly, and energetic interactions.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times, adhering to designated dress standards, including radio and earpiece
- Stand positioned at the front of the store, remaining vigilant and aware of your surroundings
- Greet every customer entering or exiting the store with a warm smile and a loud, friendly greeting to promote a sense of control and security
- Monitor the entrance for the entire duration of every shift, focusing on reducing opportunities for theft, shoplifting, and other dishonest activities
- Possess knowledge of top shortage areas and support programs aimed at theft reduction
- Communicate theft prevention information during store rallies, collaborating with the Manager on Duty
- Conduct bag and package checks on store and corporate associates to ensure adherence to safety and security standards
- Train associates on shortage reduction programs and processes
- Role-model safety as a top priority and address unsafe practices promptly
- Identify and report theft incidents or suspicious subjects to the Manager on Duty
- Maintain confidentiality and analyze business trends to support shortage control efforts
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, or Operations (preferred)
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while visually monitoring the store environment
- Strong communication skills with customers and co-workers
- Excellent leadership skills to foster productive business relationships
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with disciplined decision-making
- Positive demeanor, strong posture, and energetic greeting
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
