Retail Sales Associate/Material Handler
About The Role
The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) offers a no-fee program to assist men and women in completing their rehabilitation. The organization values its employees and relies on their dedication and diligence.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all customers and donors' needs are met with a genuine greeting and prompt, courteous assistance.
- Stock priced items ready to be merchandised on the sales floor.
- Aid in maintaining the store and donation area, keeping it clean, neat, and organized.
- Perform cleaning duties as assigned by management.
- Follow POS/Cash Register policies in accordance with TSA Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain safety and compliance standards.
- Attend required Monthly Store Meetings.
- Receive, unload, and stock incoming inventory items accurately and efficiently.
- Inspect products for defects and damages and provide quality assurance.
- Courteously assist donors in removing donated items from their vehicle and provide receipts.
- Separate and sort donated materials into proper containers and stack them as instructed by management.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or GED Required.
- Must be able to accurately handle POS/Cash Register operations and cash transactions.
- Pass background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
- Effective communication skills with management, fellow store employees, customers, and donors.
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or continuously.
- Grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks, and miscellaneous carts.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Perform various repetitive motion tasks.
- Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical Demands

Schedule
The stores operate 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by management and associates must be flexible to ensure adequate store coverage. Part-time associates may be scheduled to work any part-time shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
The Salvation Army will comply with all governmental orders and any contractual obligations relative to COVID-19 safety measures, including mandatory vaccination of staff, if required. The Salvation Army will consider requests for exemptions from any such requirements on either religious or medical grounds when available.
