About the Role
The Regional Manager has full responsibility and accountability for the sales and service productivity, operations, and customer experience of a group of Financial Center and/or Bank Mart locations. This role promotes business growth through the development of deposits, assets, fee-based services, and the retention of new and existing consumer and business customers. The Regional Manager evaluates employee performance, provides career growth opportunities, ensures adequate staffing and succession planning, and rewards employees for their accomplishments.
Accountable for risk management by following policies and procedures, ensuring actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience, and achieving results while operating within the Bank's risk appetite.
Responsibilities
- Manage the sales function for an assigned region, coaching team members to foster a collaborative sales environment.
- Lead and coach teams using consultative sales skills and tools to identify customer financial needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Ensure consistent communication regarding individual, team, and Financial Center goals, holding staff accountable for results.
- Review and evaluate reports on branch activities, including staffing, loans, deposits, overdrafts, charge-offs, and audits to meet regional profit and performance objectives.
- Participate in profit planning and control of operating expenses to meet financial targets.
- Evaluate potential business prospects in the region and notify Financial Center Managers or commercial sales representatives of opportunities.
- Assist with the loan process, evaluating applications, and approving or rejecting them according to assigned authority.
- Actively participate in community activities to develop and grow relationships for the benefit of the communities served.
- Maintain confidentiality of all customer business and adhere to the Bank’s Core Values.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with business partners to present a holistic approach to assessing customer financial needs.
- Inspect and manage documentation and reporting, including household reports, financial center P&Ls, financial needs assessments (FNA), credit queues, and dashboards.
- Respond to customer inquiries and service issues within 24 hours.
- Understand and adhere to the staffing model, ensuring the region meets appropriate Financial Center staffing requirements.
- Facilitate regular sales and staff meetings, promoting participation from Financial Center Managers and Business Partners.
- Ensure staff receives proper training to meet individual and team sales productivity goals.
- Apply bank policies and standard operating procedures consistently across all Financial Center Managers.
- Identify and resolve operational inefficiencies, questionable actions, and staffing problems in collaboration with HR partners.
- Take timely action for non-performance and involve management or business partners as necessary.
- Foster a culture that attracts, retains, and develops a diverse team, encouraging varied perspectives and active participation.
- Actively recruit talent within the marketplace to fill open positions and ensure succession planning.
- Onboard new employees in a timely manner, providing materials and assigning mentors.
- Provide timely rewards and recognition for employee accomplishments.
- Ensure staff’s continuous education on policies and procedures to meet compliance requirements.
- Provide employees with timely, candid, and constructive feedback to enhance knowledge and growth.
- Follow the Bancorp Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, modeling ethical behavior at all times.
- Receive and act on updates regarding security controls to protect bank assets and ensure compliance within the work area.
- Utilize operations policies and procedures to provide a quality experience for Fifth Third customers.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provide employees with timely, candid, and constructive feedback to support their development and career growth.
- Assist in developing a talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning.
Requirements
- This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
- Ability to present a professional image and communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- In-depth knowledge of retail banking policies and procedures, typically acquired with at least five years of retail banking management experience.
- Extensive product knowledge to meet sales and cross-selling performance expectations.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, recognized by others as a leader.
