Retail Pet Store Associate
About the role

Responsibilities
- Greet neighbors with a friendly, pawsitively passionate attitude
- Help a new puppy parent pick the right food—or help a regular find exactly what they always forget the name of
- Make thoughtful product recommendations based on each pet’s needs
- Operate the POS system, process transactions, and handle returns
- Promote store specials, loyalty programs, and current offers
- Stock shelves, manage inventory, and keep displays organized
- Lift and stock bags of pet food and supplies (yes, some of them are heavy)
- Absorb and explain the process for self-wash stations
- Restock bathing supplies and keep the store clean and welcoming
- Provide occasional services like walk-in nail trims (training provided)
Requirements
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment, especially on weekends
- Willingness to learn about pet nutrition, products, and care
- Reliable, team-oriented mindset
- Ability to lift, stock, and stay on your feet for extended periods
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays
Qualifications
- Experience in retail, customer service, or pet care
- Confidence talking with customers and making recommendations
- A genuine interest in animals (bonus if you already have strong opinions about dog food)
- Ability to stay organized and handle multiple tasks at once
