Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, onboard, train, and develop retail associates to build a knowledgeable and customer-focused team.
- Create employee schedules that align with business demands while managing labor costs responsibly.
- Set clear expectations, monitor performance, and provide regular coaching and feedback.
- Conduct performance reviews and support ongoing employee growth and development.
- Lead by example by fostering a positive work environment centered on teamwork and exceptional customer service.
- Oversee all day-to-day store activities to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe retail environment for both customers and employees.
- Ensure company policies, operational procedures, and safety standards are consistently followed.
- Manage the daily workflow of equipment sharpening, repairs, and other service offerings.
- Aid in the execution of promotions, special events, and marketing campaigns within the store.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through cycle counts and established inventory control processes.
- Create visually appealing product displays that maximize sales opportunities.
- Support pricing updates, promotional displays, markdowns, and seasonal merchandising initiatives.
- Ensure every customer receives a welcoming, knowledgeable, and professional shopping experience.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly while building long-term customer relationships.
- Promote a culture where exceptional service is a top priority across the entire team.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least three years of leadership experience in a retail management environment.
- Two or more years of experience in sports retail, with hockey or skating industry experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of hockey equipment and a genuine passion for hockey and/or figure skating.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong organizational skills with experience managing inventory, merchandising, and overall store presentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with retail point-of-sale systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift up to 50 pounds.
