Responsibilities

  • Safety Compliance & Culture – Perform all maintenance tasks in compliance with OSHA, HIOSH, EPA, and IES safety standards, policies, and procedures. Engage in safety protocols, use proper PPE, and report hazards.
  • Station Staff Collaboration – Provide basic troubleshooting guidance while emphasizing that repairs are your responsibility. Communicate regularly to understand station conditions and safety concerns.
  • Emergency Response – Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies, prioritizing issues that affect station operations or safety.
  • Teamwork – Work collaboratively with coworkers and others, share ideas, listen to suggestions, and address problems constructively.
  • Maintenance, Preventative Care & Troubleshooting – Execute general maintenance, conduct inspections, diagnose and repair issues, and manage preventive maintenance.
  • Inventory, Systems & Asset Management – Manage tools and inventory, support warehouse operations, and leverage Service Channel for work order documentation.
  • Process Improvement – Provide feedback on system usability, efficiency, and effectiveness, and share insights on asset reliability and operational trends.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in general maintenance, handyman services, or facilities management.
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and other maintenance skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance-related problems efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Basic understanding of OSHA and HIOSH safety regulations and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.

Skills

  • Ability to uphold ethical standards: integrity, objectivity, and confidentiality.
  • Sound knowledge of OSHA, HIOSH, and compliance-related standards for maintenance and retail fueling environments.
  • Proficient knowledge of hazard identification and safe work practices.
  • Ability to learn and navigate cloud-based ticketing systems (Service Channel, Owl Services).
  • Excellent customer service orientation, maintain professional demeanor, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills, including editing and proofreading.
  • Strong sense of team spirit and ability to transfer it to others.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to evaluate information and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
  • Problem-solving—identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Desirable Skills

  • Prior relevant experience in retail fueling, oil & gas, or related energy industries.
  • Prior OHSA/HIOSH training, fueling industry experience, HVAC/plumbing experience.

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to commit to The Island Way (IES core values of: Kīnāʻole, Aloha, Lōkahi, and Hoʻohana).
  • Pass background check including periodic job-related physical abilities testing as required.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position and requires random drug testing.
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) within sixty days of hire.
  • Previous forklift operation experience preferred, certification is a plus.
