Description Position Title: Retail Loan Specialist Reports To: Loan Processing Supervisor/Market President Status: Hourly; Non-Exempt Position Summary: This position is responsible for consumer loan processing, loan document preparation, and post-closing document review. The role also manages an assigned, centrally originated retail/consumer loan portfolio, including monitoring past dues, processing changes in terms, resolving exceptions, and servicing portfolio customers. In addition, this position assists new walk-in prospective clients, including individuals and businesses seeking retail, installment, or consumer loans, and guides them through the digital application and loan closing processes. The position emphasizes maintaining accurate, high-quality loan data while providing exceptional customer service, timely support, and appropriate promotion of Bank products and services. Principal Responsibilities And Duties Maintains a high level of customer service through proactive communication with both external and internal customers, i.e., loan officers, assistants, and other team members to achieve overall bank goals and objectivesWorks in a team environment to achieve overall bank goals and objectives.Processes and prepares consumer loan closing documents and loan deferral requests.Ensures loan quality and data integrity through careful attention to detail and adequate pre-closing review of documentation.Manages and understand collateral perfection processes such as UCC, Mortgage, and vehicle liens.Works within a designed process centered on the functionality of computer software.Provides support to other team members as assigned by Supervisor.Understand Federal, State and Union State Bank rules and regulations.Provide back up for nCino loan application submission assignments. Support Loan Processing group with credit report inquiries, UCC searches, etc. on an as needed basis.Interviews present and prospective clients and assists with the online digital application process and helps determine strategies for meeting the clients’ objectives. Interviews may be in person, online, or over the phone.Schedule and hold loan closings with clients in-person in the assigned markets.Uses nCino Retail Loan Operating System technology and FISERV to optimize and maintain various market consumer loan portfolios within the bank.Assists with nCino system management, helping to test product updates, troubleshooting system issues as they may arise, and making enhancement suggestions alongside nCino Admin.Cross sells other bank products in relation to loan applications (including but not limited to deposit accounts, GAP Insurance, Credit Life and Disability Insurance).Manages and oversees a loan portfolio to maintain growth, monitor delinquency to work within the bank’s guidelines.Services existing loan customers and reviews documentation to ensure compliance with the bank’s policy and proceduresRefers new deposit and treasury relationships with customers.Sells additional bank services to existing and prospective clients.Refers clients to appropriate personnel for assistance.Prepares correspondence for credit approval. Monitors collateral and exceptions for officer portfolio.Keeps up to date with lending regulations and recommend changes that may affect credit decisions.Prepares credit memorandums, primarily CIT’s for loan proposals.Assists Market President in arranging repossession or legal action when necessary. Strives for a quality loan portfolio which limits collection activityMaintains regular and reliable attendance and punctuality following established attendance and call-in procedures.Perform other duties as may be required or assigned. Requirements Supervisor Responsibilities: N/A Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Knowledge of finance, accounting and economics, as would be acquired through a four-year, college level course of study & continuing education in one of the above fields or equivalent work experience preferred. Reasonable knowledge of lending practices. Understanding of laws, rules & regulations affecting banking/lending industry as would be acquired through 3 to 5 years of experience in banking or related field. Knowledge of finance & accounting principles necessary to provide lending services. Specific Skills Required: Ability to communicate effectively with people both internally and externally. Background in customer service and sales. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to identify and resolve problems. Advanced computer skills to include proficiency in nCino/Salesforce, FISERV, Adobe, Word and Excel programs. Problem solving skills required. Ability to work with all levels within the organization. Cash handling skills required. Strong people skills required. Must be detail oriented, organized and able to handle multiple tasks. Able to handle confidential information and positively represent the company. System Accesses: Fiserv Precision, Microsoft Office Suite, nCino, Teslar, etc. Equipment Used: Office equipment which includes computer, multi-line phone system, multi-function copier/scanner/printer, etc. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment. Prolonged (90%) sitting and periodic (less than 10% of the time) physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry or push heavy objects or materials weighing up to 50 pounds; Constant and repetitive use of arms and hands below shoulder level for computer usage; This position requires the individual to perform normal office activities including, but not limited to, lifting, filing and retrieving, operating office equipment, etc. Travel between locations may be required.
