About the Role

As a Counter Manager in the Macy's Cosmetics Department, you will manage all aspects of a cosmetics line, including coaching a team of skilled Beauty Advisors. You’ll engage with customers to learn about their beauty and style choices, enhance your creativity through customer consultation and product application, and drive sales performance for you and your team.

Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week, while part-time colleagues are typically scheduled 12-24 hours per week. Hours depend on business needs and colleague availability.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire teamwork to reach sales goals and elevate the customer experience
  • Create lasting connections with customers passionate about cosmetics, beauty, and fragrance
  • Review and analyze business performance of daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, and annual sales results
  • Develop and implement business-driving events to achieve department goals
  • Supervise proper presentation, organization, storing, and replenishment of stock
  • Sell merchandise through effective customer service techniques and professional selling skills to reach personal productivity goals
  • Meet and exceed your own and the company’s sales goals
  • Collaborate with vendors to optimize business outcomes and manage vendor events and promotions, including scheduling and execution
  • Maintain compliance with all hygiene standards
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships with colleagues, customers, and communities

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team effectively, providing guidance, support, and coaching to drive performance and engagement
  • Proficiency in vendor line(s) and beauty trends, serving as a knowledgeable resource
  • Analytical skills to utilize metrics and reporting to develop action plans for achieving sales goals
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate teamwork and cross-functional collaboration
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues at all levels and across departments
  • Creativity and strategic thinking to address business challenges and opportunities
  • Detail orientation in handling daily tasks, examining reports, and ensuring business goals are met
  • Ability to coach and provide feedback to Beauty Advisors to exceed daily goals
  • Passion and a business-minded attitude to succeed in a performance-based setting
  • Ability to resolve customer problems constructively and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Enthusiasm for the beauty industry and skills to provide outstanding customer care
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks while maintaining superior results
  • Flexibility and sound judgment in ambiguous situations
  • Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with regular, dependable attendance and punctuality

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods (at least two consecutive hours) of standing/walking around the store or department
  • Frequent use of computers and handheld electronic equipment
  • Reaching, including above eye level, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and color vision
  • Constant moving, standing, reaching with arms and hands, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders
  • Lifting and moving items weighing up to 25 lbs
