Retail Bike Technician
About the role
The Bike Technician is a technically focused role centered around providing a differentiated customer experience specifically to cyclists. This individual will build and repair bicycles according to established procedures, leveraging personal experience and industry research to offer strong product recommendations tailored to customer needs.
You will create a world-class customer experience through passionate service and engagement, particularly in the Bike Department, while upholding company standards for merchandise presentation and promoting programs like warranty sales, loyalty programs, and seasonal promotions. The role also involves achieving sales goals, assisting with exercise equipment assembly, and maintaining department standards.
Responsibilities
- Build and repair bicycles in accordance with established procedures.
- Provide passionate customer service and sell through customer engagement, especially in the Bike Department.
- Uphold company standards for merchandise presentation and signage.
- Demonstrate genuine interaction with customers to showcase passion, knowledge, and commitment.
- Promote company programs including warranty sales, Scorecard (loyalty program), private-label credit cards, and seasonal promotions.
- Achieve sales goals through selling bikes and related merchandise.
- Assist with the assembly of exercise equipment as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of all company information.
- Adhere to safety, loss prevention, and standard operating procedures.
- Support the team across the store in an all-hands-on-deck approach.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Prior experience building, repairing, and selling bicycles preferred.
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift items weighing 15 to 35 lbs. occasionally (up to 5 times per hour).
- Ability to work extended periods (up to 4 hours) standing or walking.
