About the role
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. This includes greeting customers, assisting with merchandise, and maintaining a clean and organized store.
Responsibilities
- Understands safety is the top priority and practices safe behaviors.
- Maintains a safe and secure shopping environment by being aware of the sales floor and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy, recognizing fellow associates using Company recognition programs.
- Assists customers in any way necessary, including register training, merchandise assistance, and answering customer questions politely and knowledgeably.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
- Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery tasks to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store.
- Expedites new merchandise receipts to the sales floor and merchandises items according to company best practices.
- Understands and follows the Loss Prevention Awareness program, Shortage Highway, and Store Protection Specialist (SPS) position.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers, safeguarding confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Fulfills Mark-Out-of-Stock (MOS) policies, identifies and processes MOS merchandise, and notifies Store Leadership for approval.
- Handles cash, check, charge card, and refund transactions accurately and follows all policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency to efficiently perform tasks and maximizes productivity by executing all Store best practices.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicates with customers, associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
- Able to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
