Job Summary

The Retail Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Retail Manager with retail operations at Meow Wolf Las Vegas. Key duties include supervision of retail staff, managing labor, productivity, quality control, and safety measures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing labor, productivity, quality control and safety measures as established and set for the Operations Division and the site specifically
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
  • Encourage, and maintain internal and cross-departmental communication
  • Assist with training staff to provide a memorable and uniquely Meow Wolf level of service to guests
  • Models and enforces proper cash management protocols by delivering POS training to staff and following company policies for cash handling and cash room compliance
  • Assist Retail Manager with supervision of Retail Leads and Retail Associates
  • Fulfill all Manager on Duty duties, skills, and knowledge, including the ability to perform any role within the Retail department
  • Assist with creating effective schedules to ensure work centers are well staffed during peak hours
  • Aid with payroll and schedule changes
  • Aid with making projections for hiring needs
  • Aid with recommending, creating, and communicating policies and procedures
  • Maintain knowledge of events, special programs and projects and communicate them to the staff
  • Assist with tracking fluctuations in visitation numbers and adjusting staffing levels accordingly
  • Directly support all site initiatives including, but not limited to, the role-playing element required of all staff members when interacting with guests
  • Hire and train staff to provide a memorable and uniquely Meow Wolf level of service to guests
  • Models and enforces proper cash management protocols by delivering POS training to staff and following company policies for cash handling and cash room compliance
  • Assures the store is properly stocked and visually merchandised as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years leadership experience in retail/entertainment/operations environment
  • Proven work experience as an Assistant Retail Manager or similar leadership role
  • Hands-on experience with point-of-sale systems
  • Strong service skills and welcoming demeanor required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays
  • Experience training staff and identifying training needs
  • Adult + Child + Infant CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred
  • Prior experience with visual merchandising
  • Bilingual, especially but not limited to English and Spanish preferred
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to lead and manage staff
  • Good judgment in difficult and complicated management situations
  • Adequate physical ability to walk, stand, take stairs/slides/elevators, and navigate the elements during the day and night
  • Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds at times

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and scanners. This position also works in an indoor setting with exposure to noisy environments, dim lighting, strong visual effects including strobing lights, special effects, fog machines and small and/ or enclosed spaces. Physical demands include physical ability to walk, stand, take stairs/slides/elevators, and navigate the elements during the day and night. Employee may be required to remain in a sitting or standing position for prolonged periods, and repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
