Retail Accounting Intern

Responsibilities

  • Aid in cash management by preparing and posting standard debit and credit journal entries.
  • Support the review of trial balances and assist with basic profit and loss (P&L) analysis.
  • Engage in retail-focused projects, including operational performance analysis and reviewing results of internal processes.
  • Shadow staff accountants and site analysts to understand the daily responsibilities and workflows within the accounting department.
  • Assist with routine accounting tasks to gain exposure to the responsibilities of an entry-level Staff Accountant role.
  • Maintain organized financial records and support the team with ad-hoc reporting or analysis as needed.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • Preferrably junior standing or equivalent coursework progress.
  • Completed foundational business or accounting coursework.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general familiarity with financial concepts.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program.
  • Strong academic performance is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry light items such as files or office materials (up to 10-15 pounds) as needed.
