Job Title: Residential Youth Counselor About the Role: The Residential Youth Counselor (RYC) is responsible for the direct care, supervision, and safety of students residing in the Mountain Education residential facilities. The RYC will provide guidance, support, and mentorship to students in a 24-hour residential setting. This role requires the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Responsibilities: Provide direct care, supervision, and support to students in a residential setting Implement and monitor student behavior plans and interventions Assist students with daily living skills, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household chores Provide transportation for students to appointments, activities, and other outings as needed Plan, organize, and facilitate recreational and educational activities for students Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including incident reports, progress notes, and behavior logs Collaborate with treatment teams, including therapists, case managers, and other professionals to ensure coordinated care for students Respond to student crises and emergencies, including de-escalation and physical intervention when necessary Attend and participate in staff meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions Adhere to Mountain Education policies, procedures, and ethical standards Other duties as assigned Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education, or related field preferred Minimum of 1 year experience working with at-risk youth in a residential, educational, or mental health setting preferred Valid driver's license and clean driving record required First Aid, CPR, and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certifications required (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire) Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to pass a fingerprinting and criminal background check Preferred Qualifications: Experience with trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and behavior management strategies Experience with special education and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus Physical Demands: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time Ability to restrain students safely and effectively when necessary Work Environment: This position works in a 24-hour residential facility with students who have experienced trauma and exhibit challenging behaviors. The work environment can be fast-paced, unpredictable, and emotionally demanding. The RYC must be able to maintain a calm, supportive, and professional demeanor in all situations. The RYC must be able to work in a team-oriented environment and be willing to accept feedback and direction from supervisors and colleagues. The RYC must be able to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards. Compensation: $18 - $22 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications Schedule: Full-time, non-exempt position. Schedule includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. About the role

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, supervision, and support to students in a residential setting

Requirements
