Job Summary
The Mitigation Project Manager owns the full lifecycle of assigned mitigation projects, from initial inspection through final closeout. This role is responsible for scoping work, securing approvals, directing field crews and subcontractors, and ensuring quality execution, documentation, and customer satisfaction. The PM is directly accountable for project profitability, carrier communication, and meeting gross margin and operational standards in a high-autonomy, performance-driven, commission-based role.
Key Responsibilities
Project Lifecycle Management
- Own mitigation projects from intake through closeout, including inspections, scoping, production oversight, supplements, invoicing, and punch list completion.
- Conduct initial loss inspections, document conditions, and communicate findings to carriers and property owners.
- Proactively manage supplements and scope changes throughout the project lifecycle.
Estimating, Scoping & Authorization
- Create detailed Xactimate scopes for all projects and ensure all work is properly documented and authorized.
- Secure signed Daily Work Authorizations (DWA) before any work begins.
- Manage change orders in writing and ensure all scope modifications are approved prior to execution.
Financial Performance & Cost Management
- Manage project costs to achieve a minimum 40% gross profit target.
- Maintain labor, equipment, and subcontractor expenses and flag overruns early.
- Drive revenue through complete scoping, accurate documentation, and timely supplement submission.
Customer & Carrier Relations
- Serve as primary point of contact for homeowners and insurance carriers.
- Set expectations, manage communications, and handle supplement negotiations.
- Collect deductibles and initial payments on-site and ensure same-day documentation.
Field Operations & Crew Coordination
- Direct crews and subcontractors to ensure timely, high-quality production.
- Enforce IICRC S500/S520 standards, verify proper equipment usage, and ensure safe job site conditions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain complete daily documentation including photos, moisture logs, DWAs, and job updates.
- Submit all updates daily and ensure all communication and decisions are documented in writing.
On-Call & Emergency Response
- Participate in a 24/7 emergency on-call rotation and respond to losses within required timeframes.
- Perform initial inspections, deploy emergency mitigation equipment, and secure authorization before leaving emergency sites.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce OSHA safety standards and ensure compliance with IICRC and Virginia DPOR requirements.
- Maintain strict PPE compliance and adhere to all safety and labor regulations, including minor labor restrictions.

Required Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency with Xactimate estimating platform required (Level 1 minimum; Level 2 preferred)
Working knowledge of insurance restoration claims process, including ACV, depreciation, supplements, and carrier negotiation
Ability to interpret moisture maps and psychrometric data and manage drying programs to IICRC S500 standards
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with property owners, carriers, and adjusters
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities and deadlines
Experience managing project budgets, tracking labor costs, and controlling field expenditures against scope
Proficiency with field management CRM platforms for documentation, scheduling, and reporting
Valid Virginia driver’s license with clean driving record and ability to operate company vehicles
High school diploma or equivalent required
Must pass background check and drug screening
IIRC WRT required within 90 days of hire
IIRC ASD required within 90 days of hire
IIRC AMRT preferred
IIRC OCT preferred
Minimum 2 years of restoration, insurance restoration, or construction project management experience preferred
Compensation
$50,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
