Restaurant Service Technician

About the role

MPE Services is the local leading provider of heating & air conditioning, electrical, and plumbing services for residential and commercial clients in North & Central Alabama and Southern Tennessee. We are seeking an experienced Restaurant Service Technician to join our installation and repair team. This role involves processing and completing work orders, installing new refrigeration systems, troubleshooting mechanical failures, and performing equipment maintenance. You may also advise on equipment upgrades and alternate cooling units. This position offers the opportunity to dispatch work from home, reducing time spent in the office.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose commercial cooking equipment performance through observation, testing, and setup
• Disassemble and re-assemble equipment to perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair
• Read, understand, and quote customer prices
• Operate hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment to service units
• Lift, carry, pull, and push components and/or equipment for testing, setup, or maintenance
• Provide and follow written and verbal instructions
• Complete documents to verify work performed
• Operate a commercial vehicle and trailer
• Work flexible hours, including on-call nights and weekends when assigned
• Explain service charges and work performed to the customer

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• EPA Certification
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience and/or training in commercial cooking and refrigeration equipment (e.g., fryers, grills, coolers, ice machines)
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to competently use gauges, meters, measuring instruments, hoists, rigging equipment, torches, and hand tools
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for HVAC and refrigeration systems
• Ability to work independently, under pressure, and without close supervision
• Willingness to consistently meet job schedule demands
• Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force regularly and up to 50 pounds frequently
• Ability to climb and work from an 8’ ladder, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, twist, and grasp
• Ability to safely operate a company motor vehicle and adhere to all safety requirements
• Tolerance for environmental conditions such as extreme heat, cold, noise, vibration, fumes, dust, and poor ventilation

Pay

$20.00 - $38.00 per hour (determined by experience)
