About the role
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of a rest area facility. The work schedule for this position is Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Responsibilities
- Mow grass, trim hedges, and water flowers, shrubs, etc. daily.
- Clean and service restrooms, sewage disposal systems, and water treatment facilities.
- Clean up the general area.
- Load, unload and stack bags of salt, sand, cement, chemicals, etc.
The Department may require employees to perform functions beyond those contained in this job description and may modify job descriptions based on Department needs.
Requirements
- Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions.
- Familiarity with plumbing and electrical equipment.
- Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must obtain a Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) with tanker (“N”) endorsement within 180 calendar days of hire. Failure to obtain the required CDL certification within the 180-day period may result in immediate termination.
Additional Information
- A pre-employment drug/alcohol test will be conducted after a contingent offer of employment or transfer has been made, and prior to performing any work for the Department. Internal applicants already in a safety-sensitive position will not be subject to pre-employment testing; others will be tested.
- Subject to additional drug/alcohol testing according to the provisions of the ArDOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
- A criminal background check will be required to determine suitability for employment. Failure to meet these standards may result in rejection or termination.
