Response Team-Outreach Advocate On-Call - Circle Program
JOB SUMMARY
Sycamores is a contracted provider with The City of Los Angeles, Mayor's Office of Community Safety, to operate the CIRCLE program, which addresses non-urgent LAPD calls related to unhoused individuals. The CIRCLE team provides outreach and engagement to help create positive outcomes for these individuals and integrates with LACDMH’s behavioral health crisis responders.
About the role
The CIRCLE Response Team Outreach Advocate works alongside a supervisor to provide outreach and engagement to persons in need within the San Fernando Valley. They also respond to referrals from three LAPD departments and utilize the agency vehicle to assist community members in crisis. The role involves providing stabilization interventions, advocating for client needs, and offering guidance on community resources.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-scene consultation to consumers regarding community resources, crisis intervention, and available services.
- Engage with consumers to build rapport and connect them to services.
- Respond to referrals from three LAPD departments.
- Utilize the agency vehicle to respond to community members in need.
- Offer stabilization interventions and advocate for client voice and choice.
- Provide guidance on community resources and crisis intervention.
- Collaborate with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) network of Field Intervention Teams (FIT).
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- A high school diploma or equivalent degree.
- At least one year of job-related experience conducting street outreach to persons experiencing homelessness, and preferably has previous lived experience in homelessness, substance abuse, or criminal justice involvement.
- Self-identified experience with the process of recovery from a mental illness or substance use disorder, either as a consumer or a family member.
- A minimum of two (2) years of continuous sobriety prior to employment, and ongoing sobriety must be maintained throughout employment.
- Willingness to share lived experience and agree to adhere to the Code of Ethics.
- Valid California driver’s license.
- An acceptable driving record as determined by Agency policy.
- Proof of auto insurance meeting minimum coverage requirements.

- Frequent driving in the community with consumers.
- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities.
- Continuous use of near vision, hearing, and verbal communication skills.

Benefits
Starting Pay Range: $33.80 - $34 per hour (starting pay will be based on previous work experience and educational background.)
