Respite Specialist
Responsibilities
Work within a team, providing supervision and engagement during recreational activities for SED children in one of our programs with varied, flexible hours available weekdays after school, weekends (Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday daytime), school vacations, and summer break.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Completion of the mandatory training (last 2 weeks of June)
- Submission of mandatory program forms, log reports, petty cash records, and progress notes daily
- Working individually or in groups with children and adolescents to build skills, promote resilience, and have fun
- Potential to become part of a support circle for children, including additional supportive contact
- Maintaining FSW agency vehicles' cleanliness and documenting vehicle usage and maintenance needs
- Supporting program needs with any other requests from the program/camp director
Hours for this position are non-traditional and require flexibility in response. Must meet with supervisor monthly and attend monthly staff meetings. Submit your schedule weekly to the program supervisor.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- High School Diploma (Required)
- Some College (Preferred)
- Bachelor's in Social Work or Related Field (Preferred)
- Valid Driver's License (any state)
- CPR/BLS & Lifeguard Training (within the last year) preferred
Experience working with ages 5-21 population is required, with experience working with the SED population and in a recreational or educational setting strongly preferred.
