Respite Provider
About the role
LSI currently seeks part-time Respite Providers to provide respite care services in the Dubuque & surrounding area (Dubuque, Delaware and/or Jackson counties). The purpose of respite care is to give the parent or primary caregiver a break from the daily responsibilities of caring for a child or adult with a disability.
Schedule
Flexible hours! You set your own schedule working directly with families and can work from home after initial trainings. Will need to be available for some evenings, weekends and hours that family would like to use respite.
Duties
- Provide a break for the parent or guardian of an individual with a disability.
- Provide respite for a few hours in the evening up to a full weekend.
- Schedule dependent upon the family's need and your desire to serve.
- Communicate effectively with others, regardless of their communication skills.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience working with people with disabilities preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge/skills; access to internet and a computer.
- Valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record.
- Ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
