About the role

The Respite Counselor works as part of a team in an acute care residence. The role involves providing guidance, education, supervision, and direct supports to help consumers maintain their physical and emotional health, live safely in the community, and develop skills for independent living. The program offers both short and long-term care for individuals experiencing mental health, substance use disorder, and co-occurring disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance, education, supervision, and direct supports to help consumers maintain physical and emotional health and live safely in the community.
  • Support consumers in developing the skills necessary to transition back to independent living.
  • Interact with consumers in a way that respects their individuality and promotes crisis or situational stabilization.
  • Participate in structured stabilization, support, care coordination, and treatment planning for individuals in need of care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with a pay rate of $21.21/hour.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree with one year of experience or High School Diploma and three years of related experience with a pay rate of $22.27/hour.

Qualifications

  • Able to communicate in and comprehend the English language, including clear documentation of consumer progress and activities in program records.
  • Able to work as a member of a team and function independently.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer fluency, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and regular access to a reliable vehicle.
