Respiratory Therapy Extern

About the role

This role supports respiratory therapy services by performing routine procedures such as oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry, aerosol therapy, and incentive spirometry under the supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist.

Responsibilities include organizing and maintaining respiratory equipment, collecting, cleaning, and reassembling supplies according to infection control standards, and completing annual competencies.

The position involves patient positioning and transportation, lifting and pushing/pulling tasks, and providing age-appropriate care by assessing patient data and understanding growth and development principles.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine respiratory therapy procedures (oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry, aerosol therapy, incentive spirometry)
• Organize and maintain respiratory equipment
• Collect, clean, and reassemble supplies following infection control standards
• Complete annual competencies
• Assist with patient positioning and transportation
• Provide age-appropriate care by assessing patient data and applying growth and development principles

Requirements

• Current enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• No prior experience required
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently
