Respiratory Therapist Supervisor – Adult | Jefferson Hwy | Three 12-Hour Day Shifts

About the role

We're seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Respiratory Therapy, you'll coordinate and supervise the schedules and activities of the Therapists and EKG Technicians. Your role will involve attending meetings, communicating with physicians and clinicians, and participating in chart audits and continuous quality improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a resource person to the Respiratory Care staff.
  • Supervises staff through effective human resource management.
  • Serves as a resource to Medical Staff.
  • Serves as the chart auditor for all quality review in department.
  • Ensures appropriate administration of and security of medications used in Respiratory Care.
  • Ensures maintenance of Blood Gas Analyzers and equipment.
  • Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of patients in assigned area.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

Must either be a graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Care Program or grandfathered in by the state of practice. 2 years' experience as technician or therapist in general adult care is required, with neonatal and pediatric experience as needed by certain facilities. Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice is required. Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association is required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association is preferred.

Qualifications

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

Skills

Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information. Proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
