Schedule

Full time, 36 hours (guaranteed) night shift: 6:45p - 7:15a. StaffFlex contract, 13 weeks.

Pay

$53.10/hr

Responsibilities

  • Delivers routine respiratory treatments and continuous respiratory therapy including aerosol therapy, lung expansion therapy, oxygen therapy, and bronchial hygiene.
  • Monitors, instructs, and coaches patients before, during, and after treatment delivery.
  • Prevents and/or resolves untoward side effects and adjusts therapies according to protocol and documented clinical criteria.
  • Reevaluates patient/ventilator interface a minimum of every four hours, responds to alarms, and troubleshoots as needed.
  • Establishes weaning readiness and facilitates the weaning process, adjusting ventilator settings in accordance with patient progress.
  • Draws and analyzes arterial and capillary blood gases, places arterial lines, and makes or recommends changes in respiratory management according to blood gas results.
  • Recommends changes in respiratory plan of care according to documented medical necessity and within established protocols.
  • Ensures the effectiveness of therapist assessment and reassessment by monitoring patient progress.
  • Makes and/or recommends changes based on pulse oximetry, peak flow measurement, chest x-ray, lab work, and other data relevant to optimal patient progress.
  • Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation, determining or guiding the determination of ventilator mode and settings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • American Heart Association ACLS, BLS, PALS prior to hire
  • Open availability
  • No call
  • NICU experience preferred
  • 1+ years critical care experience preferred
  • Associate degree in respiratory care required
  • NBRC credential must be maintained as a condition of continued role eligibility
  • All States: require NBRC for new hires and incumbents (Florida exception: legacy incumbents may continue working and may transfer within Florida without an NBRC active credential, subject to an approved, time-limited transition period)

Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) [Required] OR State Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) [Required]
  • NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) [Preferred]
  • NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) [Preferred]
  • Neonatal Med Certification (NEONATAL MED) [Preferred]
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. Certification [Preferred]

Skills

  • Patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations are required
  • Intubations and airway management for all populations served [Preferred]
  • Ventilator management for all populations served [Preferred]
  • Arterial line placements [Preferred]
