About the role

A transport respiratory therapist (RRT) provides comprehensive respiratory care to critically ill or injured neonates and children. The RRT is responsible for accurate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in accordance with established protocols during transport and in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), or Emergency Department. The role involves stabilizing and caring for patients during transport under the direction of a designated physician or accepting provider.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy
• RRT - NBRC and State Registered Respiratory Therapist
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support (or BCLS Instructor, must be obtained within 30 days of employment)
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (or ACLS Instructor, must be obtained within 60 days of employment)
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (or PALS Instructor, must be obtained within 60 days of employment)
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation (must be obtained within 60 days of employment)
• STABLE certification (must be obtained within 6 months of employment)
• Completion of pediatric stabilization program
• Successful completion of Neonatal Pediatric Transport (C-NPT) certification within 1 year of hire
• NICU RT experience required
