Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides comprehensive respiratory care to patients with respiratory insufficiencies, assessing their condition, developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, and monitoring patient responses. Key Responsibilities Evaluate and care for patients using advanced respiratory modalitiesAssess patient conditions to determine appropriate treatments and therapy modesMonitor, record, and communicate patient progress and outcomesAdminister medications related to respiratory conditions safelyEducate patients and families about health conditions and support resourcesEnsure adherence to infection control policies and demonstrate equipment competencyPerform pulmonary function screening and weaning assessmentsPerform other assigned duties as needed Qualifications & Skills Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner credential from the Connecticut Department of Public HealthCertified BLS Provider from the American Heart AssociationCompletion of a Respiratory Care ProgramPreferred 1 year of experience; new graduates consideredStrong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skillsAbility to work in diverse clinical settings including ICU, Emergency, NICU, and pediatricsCommitment to patient-centered care and continuous learning Additional Information: The role offers career advancement opportunities, including ECMO specialist training and leadership pathways, with a focus on work-life balance, ongoing education, and a supportive team environment.
