Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Acute, PRN

About the role

The Respiratory Therapist evaluates and treats patients with breathing related conditions, performs diagnostic testing, and collaborates with physicians to develop effective treatment plans. This position plays a vital role in emergency response, patient education, and maintaining high standards of clinical practice.

Responsibilities

• Carry out diagnostic tests such as bedside PFTs, EKGs, blood gas analysis, and tobacco cessation education.
• Deliver respiratory therapies, monitor patient responses, and report changes in condition.
• Respond to codes and emergency respiratory calls, providing rapid assessments and interventions.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory health, medication use, and illness management.
• Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment, manage supplies, and support performance improvement efforts.
• Provide care across neonatal through older adult populations while ensuring compliance with safety and infection control standards.

Requirements

• A degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• RRT license in the state of practice.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.
• Ability to work in physically demanding environments with exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
• Strong critical thinking skills, reliability, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
