About the role
The Respiratory Therapist evaluates and treats patients with breathing related conditions, performs diagnostic testing, and collaborates with physicians to develop effective treatment plans. This position plays a vital role in emergency response, patient education, and maintaining high standards of clinical practice.
Responsibilities
- Carry out diagnostic tests such as bedside PFTs, EKGs, blood gas analysis, and tobacco cessation education.
- Deliver respiratory therapies, monitor patient responses, and report changes in condition.
- Respond to codes and emergency respiratory calls, providing rapid assessments and interventions.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory health, medication use, and illness management.
- Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment, manage supplies, and support performance improvement efforts.
- Provide care across neonatal through older adult populations while ensuring compliance with safety and infection control standards.
Requirements
- A degree in Respiratory Therapy.
- RRT license in the state of practice.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments with exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
- Strong critical thinking skills, reliability, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
