Job Summary
Geisinger offers a full-time Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) role with a $15,000 hiring incentive, competitive rates, and up to $5.50/hr shift differentials for evenings, nights, and weekends. Relocation assistance is also available.
Job Duties
- Affirms patients' respiratory care needs based on various data sources.
- Plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates treatment modalities to meet patients' needs.
- Ensures optimal patient/family interactions and experiences.
- Performs thorough patient assessments and establishes appropriate care plans.
- Communicates with other members of the patient care team.
- Correctly performs and documents routine therapeutic modalities including aerosolized medications, secretion management techniques, pulmonary volume expansion, oxygen therapy, and assists with routine care and maintenance of artificial airways.
- Initiates and manages conventional and high-frequency mechanical ventilators according to established protocols.
- Provides appropriate, age-specific patient and family education related to disease management.
- Assists in the intra-hospital transport of mechanically ventilated patients.
- Responsible for acute airway management in emergency situations.
- Sets up and manages non-invasive monitoring (ETCO monitors, pulse oximeters).
- Assists in discharge planning for patients needing respiratory-related durable medical equipment (DME) supplies, adhering to appropriate insurance guidelines.
- Adheres to regulatory requirements and safety standards.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information according to internal and external specifications and regulations.
- Functions as the Shift Coordinator (charge person) after one year of employment.
- Assists the medical team in performing fiberoptic bronchoscopy procedures.
- Assists the medical team with the placement of invasive monitoring lines and obtaining hemodynamic measurements and calculations.
- Assists in the intra-hospital transport of age-specific patient groups.
- Functions as a preceptor for orientees and students in their clinical rotations.

Position Details
- Hours: 7pm - 7:30am, every other weekend and holiday.
- Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS.
