Respiratory Therapist, Registered
Job Summary
The scope of work for a respiratory therapist includes assessment, therapeutic intervention, and education for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders and/or sleep disorders or associated complications.
Qualifications
- A degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited respiratory care program is required; minimum associate degree or equivalent as defined by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Respiratory Therapists must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all procedures, indications, contraindications and hazards involved in respiratory care, as well as knowledge of equipment utilized in their department.
- Demonstrates the ability and knowledge required to utilize computers for patient documentation and data gathering for quality care.
- Must complete orientations, competency validations, and other in-servicing as required by the department and hospital.
- Must have current Respiratory Therapy licensure in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.
- Must have Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials as attained through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and maintain active status according to NBRC credentialing requirements.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
- Must obtain site-specific specialty credential(s) such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), etc.

Pay
Salary Range: $28.50 - $44.00
Pay Info: Sign-on Bonus Available up to $30,000
Schedule
Shift: 12 Hours - Varied Shifts
Job Schedule: Full time
Weekly Hours: 36.00
Department Details
This position is full time 36 hours a week working 12 hour day and night shifts. Shifts would be either 6AM-6PM or 6PM-6AM. Weekend rotation is required every 3rd weekend working on the day shift. Holiday rotation is also required. Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center is a small hospital where the RT will get the opportunity to work with all departments. RT's are truly working together with all staff to ensure the best outcome for our patients. We also have started a teleRT program to provide small network hospitals in South Dakota and Minnesota with our expertise. RT's should be well rounded and adaptable to care for patients from the first breath to their last breath. We are happy to take on new graduates to grow their knowledge and increase confidence working independently.
