Respiratory Therapist - PRN - Nights

About the role

Provides respiratory care, oxygen therapy, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to patients of all ages. Sets up, monitors, and weans oxygen and artificial ventilation, draws and reports arterial blood gases and EKGs, and assists with airway management. Delivers ordered treatments following policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree (Bachelor's preferred)
• Current state license as a Respiratory Therapist
• NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist certification
• BLS certification
• ACLS must be obtained within 90 days
• No prior work experience needed

Skills

• Proficiency in computer data entry
• Effective communication
• Knowledge of Windows applications
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to adapt behavior to diverse patient populations

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures
• Review and document clinical information
• Educate patients and staff on procedures and treatments
• Conduct diagnostic procedures
• Provide patient care considering age-specific needs, privacy, and safety
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards
• Handle heavy physical tasks, including lifting and moving objects, with exposure to blood, body fluids, and potential infectious risks
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, and work in a healthcare environment with flexible schedules
