About the Role

Serves as a resource and mentor for less experienced therapists providing care for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. Opportunities exist for motivated Registered Respiratory Therapists (and Certified Respiratory Therapy Technicians) with the skills to provide a high level of quality service in a variety of settings including the ED, Trauma, and Critical Care.

Patients depend on our team for the best in evidence-based care and innovative therapies, such as inhaled nitric oxide, high-frequency oscillation, and invasive and non-invasive ventilator support modalities.

Responsibilities

• Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance.
• Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
• Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
• Assists with providing staff education.
• Maintains requirements of Clinical Ladder.
• Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.

Requirements

• Accredited Program: Respiratory Therapy (Required)
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross (multiple accepted formats listed)
• Licensed as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (TT LICENSE) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RT LICENSE) in the State of Florida
• Two (2) years of clinical experience with one (1) year in an area of specialty
• National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) credential is preferred
• Department-specific credentials:
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) for NICU
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for Pediatric areas
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Adult areas

Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
