About the Role

Serves as a resource and mentor for less experienced therapists providing care for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders in a variety of settings including the ED, Trauma, and Critical Care. Opportunities exist for motivated Registered Respiratory Therapists and Certified Respiratory Therapy Technicians to deliver high-level quality service using evidence-based care and innovative therapies such as inhaled nitric oxide, high-frequency oscillation, and invasive and non-invasive ventilator support modalities.

Responsibilities

• Maintains requirements of Clinical Ladder.
• Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
• Educates patients and families about illnesses and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
• Assists with providing staff education.
• Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Required).
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Licensed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (TT) in the State of Florida.
• National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) credential is preferred.
• Two (2) years of clinical experience with one (1) year in an area of specialty.
• Department-specific credentials:
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) for NICU.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for Pediatric areas.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Adult areas.

Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
