Location: Miramar, Florida

Patients depend on our team for the best in evidence-based care and innovative therapies, such as inhaled nitric oxide, high-frequency oscillation, and invasive and non-invasive ventilator support modalities. Opportunities exist for motivated Registered Respiratory Therapists (and Certified Respiratory Therapy Technicians) with the skills to provide a high level of quality service in a variety of settings including the ED, Trauma and Critical Care.

About the role

Provides care for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
  • Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
  • Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance.
  • Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
  • Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care.
  • Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition.

Requirements

  • Accredited Program: Respiratory Therapy (Required)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification from American Heart Association, Red Cross, or grace period for essential credential
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from American Heart Association, Red Cross, or grace period for essential credential
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (TT LICENSE) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RT LICENSE) - State of Florida
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification from American Heart Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, Red Cross, or grace period for essential credential
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) for NICU (department-specific credential)
  • PALS for Pediatric areas (department-specific credential)
  • ACLS for Adult areas (department-specific credential)

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Required Work Experience: No prior work experience required. National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) credential is preferred.
