Licensed for 582 beds, the network features over 25 locations across Tarrant County, with John Peter Smith Hospital a Level I Trauma Center, Tarrant County's only psychiatric emergency center, and the largest hospital-based family medical residency program in the nation.

Our goal is to provide high quality, compassionate clinical care for every patient, every time. We're looking for a Respiratory Therapist to join our team, providing direct patient care relating to respiratory illness and diseases in all areas serviced by Respiratory Therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Administers routine respiratory therapy procedures per physician orders.
  • Maintains artificial airways, assist with intubation, tracheostomy change and decannulation.
  • Performs arterial puncture and analysis.
  • Assist with cleaning, sterilization and reassembly of equipment.
  • Initiates, monitors and maintains continuous mechanical ventilation per physician orders.
  • Performs cardio pulmonary resuscitation and other emergency respiratory therapy procedures as necessary.
  • Documents respiratory therapy procedures per policy in the patient medical record.
  • Provides instruction to patients on the respiratory therapy modalities ordered by their physician.
  • Evaluates patient’s clinical conditions and provides suggestions and recommendations for therapeutic procedures to meet patient treatment process.
  • Assists with chart audits and quality improvement reviews.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) with a minimum of an associate degree.
  • OR In lieu of an associate degree: Six (6) plus years as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Licensure by the Texas Medical Board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Current JPS recognized BLS certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Allied Health or a related discipline from an accredited College or University.
  • Preferred: 2 years clinical experience in a critical care setting.
