About the role
The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to patients across all ages, from neonatal to geriatric.
Responsibilities
- Set up, monitor, and wean oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation
- Perform arterial blood gas analysis and EKGs
- Deliver intermittent therapy
- Assist with artificial airway management
- Document clinical information
- Educate patients and staff
- Perform diagnostic procedures
- Adapt care to patient age and needs
- Ensure compliance with policies and regulations
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s preferred
- Current state license and certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
- BLS certification required; ACLS within 90 days of hire
Skills
- Proficient in computer use and software applications
- Effective communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to diverse patient populations
Physical & Environmental Demands
Must perform heavy physical tasks, including lifting and moving objects, and work in a healthcare setting with exposure to blood, body fluids, and potential hazards. Ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
