Respiratory Therapist - Full Time - Days

About the Role

Provides general and emergency respiratory therapy procedures to patients as directed by physicians and protocols. Demonstrates the ability to assess changes in the patient’s clinical condition, make independent judgements, and modify care as necessary according to departmental policies and approved physician protocols. Routinely makes rounds with physicians in critical care units. Acts as preceptor, actively supports, and constructively contributes to the development of new and existing staff members.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory assessment, airway and ventilator management, bi-level non-invasive ventilation management, pulmonary diagnostics, delivery of medicated aerosols, bronchial hygiene therapy, lung expansion therapy, intubation, CPR, bronchoscopy assistance, arterial line placement, arterial sampling, and ABG analysis and interpretation.
• Ensure accuracy in documenting services and supplies provided to patients for revenue management.
• Recognize changes in patients' clinical conditions and modify care as necessary according to departmental standards and approved physician protocols.
• Perform airway and ventilator management, including assessment, application, intubation, monitoring, and evaluation for infants, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults.
• Conduct arterial line insertions, ABG sticks, ABG analysis, and interpret results.
• Complete all mandatory training requirements on time.
• Act as a preceptor to support and develop new and existing respiratory therapy employees.
• Assist the department manager with Performance Improvement projects and other duties as needed.

Requirements

• License to practice respiratory care in the state where services are performed (Idaho or Oregon).
• Registered as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross at hire.
• ACLS/PALS certification within 6 months of hire.

Skills

• Competency in caring for all age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric).
• Strong assessment and independent judgment skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare staff.
