Scope of Work
Applies scientific knowledge / therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care during all phases of air and/or ground medical transport. As a team member in the delivery of respiratory services, and under medical direction, performs a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs of various age groups. Collaborates with other members of the health care team and uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat the patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines. Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards. Performs point of care testing as required. Performs advanced evaluation, management and therapeutic procedures (interventions) for patients requiring respiratory assistance. Assesses effectiveness of intervention and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards. Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe. Maintains competency in areas of accountability. Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing. Maintains all transport equipment in a state of constant readiness. Checks all equipment at the beginning of each shift, noting any discrepancy or malfunction. Should be able to troubleshoot all equipment, make certain that malfunctions are promptly reported and repaired.
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy
- 2 years of relevant experience pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine or equivalent clinical education
- Required: Lic-Respiratory Therapist - STATE_MI State of Michigan
- Upon Hire required: CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care
- Upon Hire required: CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA American Heart Association
- Regional Hospitals and NICU 90 Days required: CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association
- Flight/Transport 180 Days required: CRT-Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association
Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree Respiratory Therapy
- 1 year of relevant experience Working as Respiratory Therapist in Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care
