About the role
The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) role at Saint Mary's Regional Health System is dedicated to providing high-quality respiratory care to patients across various age groups. This position involves evaluating and treating patients with breathing-related conditions, performing diagnostic tests, collaborating with physicians, responding to emergencies, educating patients, and maintaining clinical standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct diagnostic testing, including bedside, EKGs, blood gas analysis, and tobacco cessation education.
- Deliver respiratory therapies, monitor patient response, and communicate changes in condition.
- Respond to codes and emergent respiratory calls, providing rapid assessment and intervention.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory health, medication use, and illness management.
- Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment, manage supplies, and support performance improvement efforts.
- Provide care across neonatal through older adult populations while ensuring compliance with safety and infection-control standards.
Requirements
- Average of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting.
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
- CRT or RRT license in the state of practice.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (preferred).

- Ability to work in physically demanding environments with exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
- Strong critical-thinking skills, reliability, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
