Respiratory Therapist - Children's Hospital (Open)

What You’ll Help With

  • Deliver the best therapeutic, diagnostic, and life-support respiratory care procedures in general and intensive patient care areas, or home care environments.
  • Affirm patient care plans based on assessments, collaborates with the health care team/patient/family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care.
  • Administer and document treatments and medications for patients of all ages.
  • Identify and incorporate patient/family (caregiver) educational needs into the plan of care.
  • Participate in performance improvement programs to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise in rapidly changing circumstances.
  • Manage resources, establish priorities, and modify the environment to meet patient care needs.
  • Complete manager/director predetermined projects within specified time frames and according to pre-established guidelines.
  • Solve problems related to patient and personnel situations that arise in the work area.
  • Provide feedback to staff using appropriate communication and documentation.
  • Assist with providing educational activities for the respiratory care department, other hospital departments, and the community.

What We Require

  • Education: Associate degree and/or certification from a CoARC (Committee on Accreditation of Respiratory Care Education) approved school of respiratory therapy.
  • Licensure: Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the VA State Board of Medicine. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required. Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position. Ability to acquire BLS within 3 months of employment in this position or as determined by department. Some areas may require ACLS, NRP, PALS certification within one year of employment.

Compensation

Range: $30.47 - $45.71
