About the Role

Provides respiratory care to patients as ordered by physicians, and according to established standards and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Exemplifies knowledge of the cardiopulmonary system to perform the delivery of clinical care, utilizing standards and practice in accordance with the hospital mission and vision.
  • Works under limited supervision and follows written and oral communication.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of biopsychosocial and spiritual aspects of human behavior ranging from newborns to geriatrics.
  • Shows effective communication skills, empathy, and unconditional positive regard towards all patients and co-workers.
  • Establishes measurable yearly goals and objectives.
  • Promotes positive customer relations.
  • Complies with organizational requirements, including policies, procedures, and regulations specific to the Respiratory Care Department.
  • Provides a mechanism for contact (e.g., beeper, telephone, emergency contact).
  • Maintains flexibility in schedule to meet the needs of patients, community, and staff.
  • Participates in performance improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Performs age-specific therapy, demonstrating awareness of safety and care for each age group, including individual and family education, routine and emergency procedures, medication administration, and isolation procedures.
  • Able to effectively perform patient handling procedures to ensure patient safety as well as employee safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Certifications: Licensed Certified Respiratory Therapist (LIC-Certified Respiratory Therapist) and Licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist in Tennessee (LIC-Registered Respiratory Therapist - Tennessee).
  • Work Experience: Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
  • Education: Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program.
