About the Role
Responsible for the overall clinical, technical, and administrative functions at the assigned location for the Home Respiratory Therapist program. This includes the installation, delivery, and ongoing assessment of respiratory therapy equipment and supplies to patients in their homes.
Responsibilities
- Install and deliver respiratory therapy equipment and supplies to patients in the home.
- Provide ongoing assessment of patients and equipment.
- Serve as the clinical contact for physicians, healthcare practitioners, and others involved in patient care.
- Maintain accurate records, including charting, progress notes, clinical files, equipment records, and preventative maintenance documentation.
- Manage and update inventory of all company assets and supplies.
- Ensure vehicle maintenance complies with accreditation standards.
- Update patient demographic information regularly and with any changes.
- Oversee compliance with regulatory rules and guidelines for respiratory therapy staff.
- Orient and train newly hired respiratory therapists and service technicians.
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Adhere to cost-containment policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with office staff to ensure prompt and accurate billing and documentation, meeting third-party payor guidelines.
- Promote and market home respiratory therapy services to referral sources alongside clinical, managerial, and sales teams.
- Ensure proper, accurate, and safe operation of all equipment before installation.
- Provide on-call availability for patient needs on a rotating schedule with fellow respiratory therapists.
- Work with team members (other RTs, Patient Care Coordinators, and departments) to complete tasks.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Medical or respiratory experience.
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice.
Skills
- Technical capacity in respiratory therapy equipment and procedures.
- Customer/client focus.
- Strong communication proficiency (written and verbal).
- Initiative and collaboration.
- Financial management and billing knowledge.
- Presentation skills for marketing and training purposes.
Physical Demands
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
This role requires traveling to patient homes to set up and service medical devices.
