Responsibilities
- Oversee clinical, technical, and administrative functions of the Home Respiratory Therapist program at the assigned location.
- Install, deliver, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment and supplies for patients in their homes, including ongoing patient and equipment assessments.
- Serve as the primary clinical contact for physicians, referral sources, healthcare practitioners, and others involved in patient care.
- Maintain accurate and complete records, including charts, progress notes, clinical files, equipment logs, preventative maintenance records, and other required documentation.
- Manage and track inventory of all company assets and supplies.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance and service (paid for by the company) to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
- Update all demographic information regularly and with any changes in personal or professional status.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory rules and guidelines for respiratory therapy staff.
- Provide orientation and training for subordinate or newly hired respiratory therapy staff and service technicians.
- Adhere to cost-containment policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with office staff to ensure prompt and accurate billing and documentation, meeting third-party payor guidelines for coverage.
- Work with clinical, managerial, and sales teams to promote and market home respiratory therapy services to referral sources.
- Verify proper, accurate, and safe operation of all equipment before installation.
- Provide on-call availability for patient contact and response to patient needs on a rotating schedule with fellow respiratory therapists.
- Collaborate with team members (other RTs, patient care coordinators, and various departments) to complete tasks.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Medical or respiratory experience.
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to travel to patient homes to set up and service medical devices.
- Exhibit effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate technical capacity, customer/client focus, communication proficiency, initiative, collaboration, financial management, and presentation skills.
